Pray for Our Schools Day Wed 18th May

Pray for Schools Fortnight 2016

Blackdown Local Ministry Group

As part of the national Pray for Schools Fortnight initiative, we wanted to help encourage the churches in the Blackdown Benefice and Seven Sowers Benefice to pray for education and schools. On Wednesday, 18th May we set up a range of prayer stations at St Peter’s, Staple Fitzpaine and invited people from our churches to come along during the day to pray. Various prayer stations enabled visitors to express prayers for schools locally, as well as throughout the country and across the world. We collected information about each of the five ministry group primary schools, to display and encourage people to think about schools in the local area. In the evening, we gathered for a reflective service, where we thought about schools and prayed for them. We also reflected on the example of the ‘Best Teacher’, remembering that Jesus was a teacher like no other, who went above and beyond in caring for those he encountered. We remembered and gave thanks for those who have taught us throughout our lifetimes.

Our schools are hugely important parts of our local communities, so I hope we can all be encouraged and inspired to regularly pray for education and schools.
