The vision for the Children’s work across the benefice is for our families to know the stories of Jesus. For these Bible stories to help them grow in the knowledge and love of God.
We would love to meet you. Holly Stevens, our Children schools and families worker leads our children’s and families activities across the Benefice.
What’s on for families?
Messy Church
Every month we have Messy Church. This is a great time learning a new bible story, making crafts, playing games and singing songs all about it!
We usually meet on the first Saturday of the month in Hatch Beauchamp Hall at 3:30- 5. We have lots of fun activities to do together and to finish we have a yummy afternoon tea of cakes and sandwiches. It is free to attend, but email Holly to book in.
Little Stars
Little Stars is our baby and toddler group that happens monthly at Curry Mallet school. If you have a baby or preschooler, we’d love for you to join us with playing, crafting and chatting. This is term time on the Third Thursday of the month. You do not have to be linked with the school to attend, it is open for all. (19/3, 21/5, 18/6, 6/7)
Summer Holiday Club
Every Summer we run a 2-day free holiday club for school aged children.
We have crafts, games, stories and much more. Our theme this year is ‘Wonder Zone!’
On 27th and 28th July 2026!!
What else are we doing?
Open the Book
Every week Holly takes a team of volunteers into our 3 church schools to lead Open the Book collective worship. Here we act out Bible stories written by the Bible Society and learn how these stories can teach us things. The children often comment that this is their favourite worship of the week.
Collective worship
Holly leads fortnightly collective worship in all 3 of our church schools. The worship is about the Christian values that the schools are learning about each half term. They involve acting out stories, singing, prayer, challenges, bible stories, important religious festivals and more.
And how do we pay for our Children’s Work?:
All the funding for our work with children, schools and families comes from The Seven Sowers Charitable Trust, a registered charity set up by the Benefice to fund benefice-wide projects. Some of the Trust’s funds come from the seven PCC’s, but the majority is from individuals who recognize the value of our Children’s work. If you would like to support our children’s work please make a donation to the Trust – you can use the Parish Giving Scheme
